On Saturday,
December 9, I did one of my traditional weekends of helping my father with the Christmas tree farm.
He gets busy with customers and so I help out by greeting customers, answering questions, taking money and generally being there.

Note the lack of SNOW! (That changes
with photo's down further)
Driveway to the farm house

Tractoring over to the fields where
the trees are sold.
My dad unloading wood.
My version of helping involves
photographing his working
Pop bringing some branchs to
the burn barrel.
He is puzzled over why I would be
photographing him. My subjects
often react this way.
The burn barrel. The
evergreens make lots of smoke.
cute sign
more signs
Pop turns this sign over (180 degrees)
when he shows up to open the field.
The word "open" is written
in very small letters above the
upside down "closed." I just
thought that was pretty amusing.
This is Sunday morning, early!!
Like 7:30am or something
- way earlier than my normal
10:00am Sunday up time.
Notice the snow!! It snowed last
night.
Here's where the paved road
ends. Here on out it is an unplowed
unpaved road. We still have about
1 mile to go.
We stop at the first big hill.
We are checking to see if is
safe to drive down the
hill. (can get slippery)
Pop is slipping and sliding around
He decide's its safe enough,
so back to get the truck
Quite a difference from
yesterday...
The burn barrel is still warm,
you can see there is no
snow around it.
A self-portrait!
an overcast morning
Later in the day, the sun comes out.
I am taking some shots...
... as I walk from ...
... the Christmas tree field...
... and towards ...
... the farm house ...
... fields east of the house...
... also east but close to the house...
A shot taken with my back at
the house, looking towards
the Christmas tree field
(visible through the line of trees)
The sun is melting the snow like
crazy.
In this shot you can just make
out the snow coming off the
house and the trees.
more coming off the tree.
Is is coming down fast and
makeing a lot of noise...
like a light rain almost
Back to the fields
closer...
following my own tracks
The Master Chef sets out to
cook camp cuisine.
Camp grub... grilling sandwiches
over the burn barrel and potato
chips
Having some time on my hands
after lunch, I created a forever smiling
greeter! Sweet!!
